Outside Maths challenge
13th Nov 2021
In Forest schools today we were using our maths skills to build a stone cairn. A cairn is a man-made stack of stones, found all over the world, marking special places and used since ancient times. They had to consider, size, weight, shape, as well as problem solving, coordination, construction in three dimensions and consider how they needed to adapt their design to get the cairn to stay upright. The children created some fantastic stone cairns.
We also had the opportunity to try out the new Discovery Garden, lots of excited children.
