Years 4-7 RETURN TO SCHOOL & EARLY FINISH ON FRIDAYS

19th Mar 2021

19/03/21

Dear Parents,

We are delighted that we will get to welcome all of our pupils back to school on Monday, 22nd March 2021. The lockdown that we have had since Christmas has been tough on us all and I am sure that many of you have seen a significant impact on your children. A return to school will allow us to resume face to face teaching and provide the children with opportunities to re-establish routines and relationships.

I wish to extend my thanks to the teaching and non-teaching staff at Crumlin IPS for all of the work that they have done over the past few months to support the pupils. The amount of hours that our teachers have put in to providing remote learning opportunities clearly demonstrates their dedication and commitment to our school and its pupils.

In order to allow us to maintain class bubbles I will be making a change to school times for the foreseeable future. On Friday afternoons all pupils will finish at 2pm! It is important that you make the necessary arrangements to have your child collected at the appropriate time on Friday. This allows me to facilitate teacher planning, preparation and assessment time which teaching staff are entitled to as part of their contracts. I wish to thank you in advance for your support with this. Pupils will not miss any teaching time as the hour will be made up at times throughout the normal school day.

Pupils can arrive on Monday between 8.55am & 9.05am. We would ask all Year 4-7 parents to leave their children at the front gate of the school.  Year 4-7 pupils will be dismissed at the front of the school by their teachers at 3pm on Mon-Thurs and 2pm on Friday. There is no need for parents of these pupils to come into the school. This would help us to reduce the amount of adults in the school grounds and therefore reduce the risk of infection spread. Buses are running as normal for those pupils who use this service.

As we return to school I want to remind you that the Covid-19 virus remains in the community and we must ensure that we remain vigilant in school. Where possible we will work hard to maintain classroom bubbles when the children are inside the building. We will continue with our well-established hand washing routines and the caretaker and his staff will ensure that the cleaning is of a very high standard. As parents we would ask that you wear masks when on school property, avoid hanging around on property if possible and maintain a safe distance from those who are outside your family bubbles. I am concerned that as a society we will see a return to school as a sign to relax and let our guard down and I urge you to continue to do all that you can to protect your children and our school community.

Should you have any concerns about your child returning to school, please contact your class teacher in the first instance.

Regards

Mr Young
